Living in Tokyo can be quite exhausting. Exciting? Yes, but also very tiring. It can be very exciting to be in a bustling city were nothing ever seems to slow down. It is really easy to get caught up in the rat race and go with the flow. But spending 10 plus hours a week mashed on an extremely crowded train, working, and spending of my time at home learning and improving my skills takes a lot of of me (though I usually don’t notice).

Recently though I took a day to go to the park and relax. I took time to enjoy the scenery and pay attention to all the things I usually ignore (animals, plants, wind, sounds). I didn’t accomplish anything and felt a little guilty when I got back home for having wasted the day. That was until I found how energized I was to go to work the next day. Due to my rest, I was able to work at a faster pace, was more positive, and more creative.

Point: make sure you get enough rest and take time to enjoy life. Sometimes doing nothing is the most productive thing you can do.
